At Cottingham NHS Hospital, our team was commissioned from the outset to design, test and manufacture the ground-mounted solar mounting systems for this 5 MW solar project, working with Boston Renewables for the NHS University Trust. Our mounting systems were developed around the site’s ground conditions and terrain, using driven pile foundations.
The project combined two different solar mounting configurations across the site: our HTR System 4.1 – 4 in landscape for the conventional south-facing solar field, alongside an 8 in landscape east-west system. Together, the two solar fields provide a combined project capacity of 5MW.
Although much of the site was relatively flat, boggy ground conditions were encountered during the east-west installation. Our approach was therefore focused on providing mounting systems suited to the actual site conditions while remaining practical for manufacture and installation.
For us, this project is a strong example of how we can provide project-specific ground-mounted solar solutions rather than relying on a single mounting configuration. By bringing together our solar mounting system design, testing and manufacturing capabilities, we were able to support two different PV layouts within the same project and respond to the ground conditions and terrain from the outset.
