HTR Solar is proud to see the 40 MWp Brogborough Solar Farm in Bedfordshire featured by BBC News, highlighting the transformation of a former landfill site into a renewable energy hub.

Developed by Infinis, the project will feature more than 62,000 solar panels across approximately 68 hectares of the site. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 10,500 homes, with solar generation scheduled to begin in spring 2027.

Developing a solar farm on a restored landfill presents unique engineering challenges, particularly due to variable ground conditions, restrictions on ground penetration and the need to protect the existing landfill capping and associated infrastructure. HTR Solar is supplying the ground-mounted solar mounting system, with the structural design considering site-specific wind and snow loading, foundation stability, connection performance and efficient installation. The foundation strategy incorporates root anchor solutions suited to challenging landfill conditions, helping provide structural stability while accommodating restrictions associated with the restored site. The project demonstrates how careful engineering, adaptable foundation solutions and efficient mounting system design can support large-scale renewable energy developments on previously used land.

We are pleased to contribute to this significant renewable energy project and to see Brogborough receiving national recognition. At HTR Solar, we remain committed to delivering reliable, practical and site-specific solar mounting solutions that help developers and EPC contractors overcome complex engineering challenges.
